THE END OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION AND
OTHER OCCURRENCES
By Austin Edward
Goal: Survey the effects of the
modern era.
->The Internet, mass production of
goods loss of morals, loss of community and the constant challenges we face
today.
->The loss of
role models in society; they only exist today as a negative influence; they do
not offer answers to anything and are more likely just there as ego boasters
that wish to “influence” lesser people
->The loss of
options for those seeking the answers to the greatest challenges and secrets
the world has to offer.
1. How far we are
straggling from nature. We are told it’s better to betray our innate humanity
in favor of some supposed egalitarianism and to live for and support a society that
forgets just what we are. Nature always wins.
2. We live in an age
of constant need for instant gratification and the want to be seen or heard,
never before in history have, we’ve been so coddled into thinking we matter “so
much” to the universe and we’ve forgotten what Carl Sagan said, “We are just
space dust, an insignificant spec on the universal scale” and that goes for our
whole world much less the individual.
3. Dehumanization is
the norm and people are always apt to “one up” another, we are no longer fazed
by death and suffering, we see it all the time on the news and on the internet.
Often, I see people celebrate the deaths of others solely based on their
political stance and it’s sickening.
4. Power hungry petty
tyrants; people love to hold power over others and slap it in their face, we
live in an era where everyone has a label and some will artificially handicap
themselves (trans people for instance) in the perception that it “empowers”
them and makes them better than others of similar status/race/class etc. (which
can explain why most trans people are white biological males, they feel like
they need to separate from the boogeymen that white men are made out to be in
higher education and the media).
5. How the influx of
immigrants from other countries like India, Africa, South America/Central
America to the U.S. and the Muslim world (to Europe) destroy our culture and
economies, destroy our heritage, and uniqueness that once defined us all as
different cultures and communities, now everyone gets diluted into gray blobs
of unidentified mass, a real human melting pot. And its only white people who
are not allowed to retain their culture for some reason, we often celebrate
diversity but only if it implies to non-white cultures, why is this racism
allowed? [Is this racist?] someone has to say it.
6. Reversing race and
gender roles further confuse people from what the natural state is and leads
them down dark paths. We are going backwards in regards to race and now gender
as a whole. Growing up I rarely saw these issues we have today, its like we
reverted to the 1960’s, I always had Black, Brown, Jewish, and Asian kids in my
schools, and they never treated each other better or worse because of their
race. You never saw on TV or read in the news about “How bad X is to Y people!”
or “Why we should discuss X’s past!”. Today racism thrives like never before
because of these ghoulish pundits in the media that make money off our division,
constantly reinforcing a bleak world view. Women were women and men were men,
there was no confusion in these roles, of course there were times you could
step out of your “zones” so to speak, as women could do anything a man could do
and most people agreed on that, and men could fill roles of traditionally
women-dominated arenas, there is no problem with this egality. But today, just
like with race, we constantly view hatred and sow division, thanks to our
overlords consistently peddling such rhetoric in the media.
7. Destroying free
speech leads to more control by the “few” “the elite”; normal people conform to
the interests of whatever political alignment they subscribe to; this is seen
today more so with radical leftists nowadays wanting to destroy our individual
freedoms in the name of “safe spaces” and supposed security. You can visibly
see the influence it has most recently even in public through the placing
Ukrainian and LGBTQ+ flags at every store or home these people own just to fall
in and feel a sense of community against the “others”: The Evil Orange Man and
his supporters, forgetting they are just like the rest of us and have they’re
own complexities of thought and morality. But to them, they are merely "othered",
censored, ignored and labeled “fascists”. On the right you see people
celebrating deportation and wanting to “lock them up” in response to leftists
in power. A lot of them may also follow blindly to whatever their leaders say
even when not in their best interest. Visibly, MAGA does it too with their own
version of the progressive flags seen with the endless, ridiculous amount of merchandise
and omnipresent red hats, but in truth, mostly as a response for the years of
hatred by the left during the Obama years. Dividing people is the first step in
total control.
“If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one
person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in
silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in
silencing mankind.” (John Stuart Mill, On Liberty, 1859)
8. The right is
further pushing in their respective direction as well, leading to authoritarian
practices of their own, including attacks on free speech and representation.
Idolizing billionaires and whoever aligns with their politics, no matter how
much harm they may cause. Now that Trump has the white house again, they wish
to fill the very same roles of the oppressor that led them to their ideology
today.
9. Everyone is human
and has similar experiences and its up to them to make out what to learn from
them, yet it’s easier to hide or shun away that part of your person in order to
establish yourself deeper with your label, again wishing for others to accept you
into the perceived “community” of their choosing.
10. Escapism is the
new norm, I remember growing up, hiding in video games and anime and being
(rightfully) ridiculed for preferring to isolate myself then to spend time with
others and make connections, friends, lovers etc. But nowadays its completely
fine to waste away your youth for nothing, sure it has many benefits to some
people, like creatives looking for inspiration or wanting to look at things
from another point of view. The problem now is that there’s no guide to
distinguish it from reality, the lines are blurred due to just how much we
isolate and consume which is why we see many kids and young adults today are
living in complete delusion. Escapism has evolved and seeped into everyday
life, kids today hide behind “seven layers of irony” and don’t see the problem
or the impact it has on distinguishing reality.
11. Covid-19 role in
conditioning the populace to always obey authority and never ask questions;
this one is the biggest issue I’ve seen with society, the over-compliance with
authority and the sheer HATRED for people who dare to speak up against it. The
“wear your mask” control freaks that ruled the narrative in the online sphere
constantly reinforcing you to fall in line and obey your masters was far too
many. The fact that the government (CDC)(USAID) funded this rhetoric to be
plastered everywhere with all dissenting viewpoints censored or removed was the
biggest wake up call. Reddit and Twitter were the worst offenders, censoring
and forcing people who believe in free speech or common-sense approaches under
the floorboards. This practice, in turn, only caused more people to the right
of the pendulum, especially people like me who were traditionally liberal and
just wanted what’s best for liberty and individual/personal freedoms. It
normalized attacking people with different opinions that the ones in charge of
the government and media had. It fostered an artificial landscape for
“liberals” to align further with government and corporate policies, weakening
their will and traditional liberal values. And yet these very same misguided
people claimed higher moral authority than others and would even consider
themselves “punk” and “anti-establishment”; the biggest hypocrisy to ever grace
our computer screens.
12. To truly find
ourselves and look for the answers we seek in life. Our destiny. Our purpose.
Our universe. It is vitally important to live free of confinement and the
chains that bind us our almost entirely man-made. Remove people from your life
that reinforce such limits and don’t give platform to those who just stir
division aimlessly, as they have no meaning or benefit. Evil people revel in
the pain of others, whether it be physically through violence, war, abuse,
sports, injury, pain etc., to what’s mostly considered acceptable nowadays:
psychologically. It’s easy to hop on the computer or take out your phone and
hate on one another, or to follow along with your perceived “tribe” and
belittle those who you other. It should be noted that those who constantly have
to appease a “tribe” or community have little self-worth and 9 out of 10 times
have nothing of value going for them and so they seek to bring everyone down to
their levels. With all the idle time nowadays, the lack of war and national
issues, and the internet, it creates a perfect landscape for artificial
problems to take fruition. If we are to truly live to our full potential and
discover ourselves, we need to keep busy with our goals, no matter how small
they might be, and refrain from falling into the traps laid out by these
heinous people, consistently reminding our self that everyone has their demons
and that you have no more room for another’s on your shoulder.
